Tarpon fishing report for February 2017
Tarpon fishing in Puerto Rico was steady in February as we released 48 tarpon and many snook. The big tarpon made their way into La Torrecilla and San Jose lagoons feeding on the numerous “Mojarra” baitfish that thrive in this estuary system. Capt. Javier and I caught some really nice tarpon exceeding the 100 pound mark, including one caught by 12 year old Thomas that was in the 110 pound class. It was a treat to fish with Thomas and his Dad as we released tarpon of 110, 60 and 50 pounds on the morning of February 22nd. Also ran a great reef fishing trip with the Emery’s catching 3 Kingfish, 2 Cero Mackerel, 2 big Barracuda and a Horse-eye jack. Had a huge ‘cuda that cut a 10 pound kingfish in half at boat side as well! Got to go offshore for three trips and we caught 3 White marlin, 1 Sailfish, 3 big Dorado and 1 Wahoo. Come ‘on down and experience the best light tackle fishing Puerto Rico has to offer! As always we want to thank our great sponsors: SHIMANO, ST. CROIX RODS, MAUI JIM, SQUIDNATION, FATHOM OFFSHORE and FISH MONKEY! Tight lines, Capt. Juan.
