In 1996, Capt. Juan founded Tight Loop Sport Fishing, a charter fishing company, and purchased an 18-foot Hewes skiff named TIGHT LOOP. In March of that same year, he guided angler Francisco Jaen to the then Puerto Rican All Tackle record tarpon with a 158-pound catch. In December of 2001 he also set the Puerto Rican record for the most tarpon caught in one day of fishing with 56 releases aboard the TIGHT LOOP.
Capt. Juan has caught and/or guided over 40 Puerto Rican fishing records and has guided customers to 6 IGFA World records. He personally holds the Puerto Rican records for tarpon on 2, 4 and 6-pound test lines. He is currently the IGFA representative for Loiza, Puerto Rico as well as past president of the Puerto Rico Light Tackle Anglers and a long time member of Cangrejos Yacht Club.
He is currently endorsed by Bluefin USA and Shimano and is a pro-staff guide for St. Croix rods, Maui Jim sunglasses and Fish Monkey Gloves. Capt. Juan was voted one of Salt Water Sportsman Magazine’s Top 50 charter captains of the World in July of 2013.
Capt. Juan’s current sport fishing charter fishing company, EXTREME FISHING PUERTO RICO, specializes in light tackle inshore and offshore fishing on the north coast of Puerto Rico. He is an avid tournament captain and angler and has an extensive list of tournament wins to his credit.
